Krueger announces more than $475,000 in funding for park projects

HARRISBURG, Dec. 30 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger, D-Delaware, today announced $475,200 in Community Conservation Partnership Program grants to develop or rehabilitate three different parks in the 161st Legislative District.

“Improving and creating green spaces is an important investment in the future of our community,” Krueger said. “These are safe and clean spaces for everyone to use. I am happy that we were able to secure this funding and can bring these projects to life.”

The grants include:

  • Aston Township, $250,000: Further development of Aston Community Center Park, Aston Township, Delaware County. Work to include construction of amphitheater, retaining walls, pedestrian walkway and stormwater management measures; installation of lighting and utilities; ADA access, landscaping, project sign and other related site improvements.

  • Brookhaven Borough, $116,300: Rehabilitation of Samson Park, Brookhaven Borough, Delaware County. Work to include construction of multi-purpose court, pedestrian walkway, parking area and stormwater management measures; installation of fencing, lighting and utilities; ADA access, landscaping, project sign and other related site improvements.

  • Nether Providence Township, $108,900: Rehabilitation and further development of Martha Burton Park, Nether Providence Township, Delaware County. Work to include renovation of pavilion; construction of picnic area, pedestrian walkway and stormwater management measures; installation of play equipment with required safety surfacing, fencing, lighting and utilities; ADA access, landscaping, project sign and other related site improvements.

The Community Conservation Partnership Program grants are administered through the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and can fund:

  • Planning, acquisition, and development of public parks.
  • Recreation areas.
  • Motorized and non-motorized trails.
  • River conservation and access.
  • Conservation of open space.
