Krueger: $1 million RACP grant for Neumann University hockey rink

New rink will bolster opportunities for hockey programs

ASTON, Oct. 27 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger, D-Delaware, announced today that the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program has awarded Neumann University a $1 million grant to build a new hockey rink.

“This is a tremendous award, not only for Neumann University, but for Aston Township and Delaware County as a whole,” Krueger said. “This grant will provide economic development for Neumann University and increased access for those who love ice hockey.”

The grant will expand access for youth, collegiate and adult ice hockey, sled hockey and ice-skating programs, many of which are limited by rink availability.

A conceptual design for the project includes the following features:

  • A 94,000-square-foot arena, which includes two floors and two ice rinks.
  • A large lobby area, 6-8 locker rooms, meeting and classroom spaces, a concessions area and 1,050 for spectator seating.
  • A new parking area and pedestrian walkways.

The grant was awarded by the RACP, a program administered by the Office of the Budget whose grants aim to bolster community development and economic activity.
