Rep. Krueger and Sen. Kane to host free shredding event in April

BROOKHAVEN, March 31 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger, D-Delaware, and state Sen. John Kane, D-Delaware/Chester, will host a free shredding and drug take back event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 15.

The event will take place at Upland County Park at 280 6th St., Brookhaven, PA, 19015.

Residents may bring up to four boxes of documents containing personal information. Additionally, the Delaware County District Attorney's Mobile Drug Collection Unit will be onsite collecting unwanted medications for proper disposal.

Electronics will not be accepted at this event.

“I'm honored to host events like this one for residents, and I'm delighted Senator Kane can join us once more. It is critical to have a secure and simple method for disposing of confidential information and unused medication,” said Krueger. “Shredding events are one of the best ways to ensure that your confidential and sensitive documents are properly disposed of and not used without your knowledge. We've also seen unused and forgotten-about medications brought to our takeback events to save the lives of those struggling with opioid addiction and to prevent prescription drug abuse.”

The event is open to all residents of the 161st Legislative District, but no businesses.

"Protecting the privacy of our constituents is of the utmost importance to me and I'm proud to co-host this event with Representative Krueger," said Sen. Kane. "By properly disposing of personal information, we can help prevent identity theft and ensure peace of mind for our residents. Shredding events are one of the best ways to make sure your eyes are the only ones to see your private documentation, so please use this opportunity to do so!"
