Krueger announces $194,000 in state funding for area fire, EMS companies

HARRISBURG, Feb. 11 – Several local fire departments and emergency medical service providers have been awarded grants from Pennsylvania’s Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program, state Rep. Leanne Kreuger, D-Delaware, announced today.

Krueger said nearly $194,000 was awarded to fire and EMS companies in the 161st District she represents. The money can be used for facility upgrades, equipment, debt reduction, training and certification, education and public outreach, and recruitment and retention efforts.

“Congratulations to these hard-working first responders who keep our communities safe in the face of danger,” Krueger said. “Fire and EMS companies provide essential life-saving services and deserve every cent of this funding. I am pleased to work with our local companies to help them realize these funding opportunities so they can continue to protect our neighbors in need.”

Funding was awarded in Krueger’s district as follows:

  • $28,322.02 – Aston Township Fire Department, Fire.    
  • $15,000 – Aston Township Fire Department, EMS.
  • $15,000 – Brookhaven Fire & Rescue Co., EMS.
  • $16,322.02 – Brookhaven Fire & Rescue Co., Fire.    
  • $13,955.06 – Chester Township Fire Co., Fire.
  • $16,322.02 – Garden City Fire Co. 1, Fire.       
  • $17,397.91 – Middletown Fire Co. #1, Fire.      
  • $12,879.17 – S M Vauclain Fire Co., Fire.        
  • $16,106.84 – South Media Fire Co. No. 1, Fire.
  • $12,448.81 – Upland Fire Co. # 1, Fire. 
  • $15,246.13 – Woodlyn Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1, Fire. 
  • $15,000 – Woodlyn Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1, EMS.

The grants were awarded through the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program, administered by the Office of State Fire Commissioner.
