BROOKHAVEN, Aug. 4 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger, D-Delaware, today announced that Brookhaven Borough and Ridley Township have been awarded grants to upgrade traffic signals in their communities.
“Traffic signals help keep pedestrians, cyclists and drivers safe throughout our neighborhoods,” said Krueger. “The more efficient, well-timed and reliable they are, the safer are our residents. These funds will support projects that upgrade and modernize key intersections in both areas.”
The grants awarded in Krueger’s district include:
The funds were awarded as part of the Green Light-Go Program administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. This program funding may be used for traffic signal retiming; study and removal of unwarranted traffic-control signals; monitoring of traffic signal corridors; innovative technologies; installation, upgrade or maintenance of traffic signal communication systems; upgrade or installation of detection systems and controllers; modernization upgrades; implementation of intelligent transportation system applications; or to replace traditional or LED bulbs with new LED bulbs.
