Madden brings home $690K for Mount Pocono infrastructure

HARRISBURG, Dec. 20 – State Rep. Maureen Madden is pleased to announce that the Mount Pocono Municipal Authority was awarded almost $690,000 in state grant funding for water and sewer upgrades.

“Proper management of wastewater is vitally important to the public health of our residents. These dollars will allow the Mount Pocono Municipal Authority to complete critical upgrades to their systems,” said Madden, D-Monroe.

Madden said a $565,025 H2O PA Program grant will be used to assist with the construction of a solid waste facility, while a separate $124,350 Small Water and Sewer grant will allow the authority to replace pumps at its wastewater treatment facility, both in Mount Pocono.

Funds distributed through the H2O PA Program provide single-year or multi-year grants to municipalities or municipal authorities to assist with the construction of drinking water, sanitary sewer and storm water projects. Act 54 of 2022 appropriated $205.4 million of American Rescue Plan Act funds to the H2O PA – Water Supply, Sanitary Sewer and Storm Water Projects Program.

Funds distributed through the Small Water and Sewer Program provide for small water, sewer, and storm system water infrastructure projects. Act 54 of 2022 appropriated $105.6 million of American Rescue Plan Act funds to the PA Small Water and Sewer Program.

The grants were awarded Tuesday by the Commonwealth Financing Authority. More information about the CFA and the programs it funds is available here: https://dced.pa.gov/programs-funding/commonwealth-financing-authority-cfa/.
