Malagari celebrates grants awards supporting Montco Vets

LANSDALE, July 14 – State Rep. Steve Malagari, D-Montgomery, today applauded the announcement of two grants totaling $50,000 from the Veterans' Trust Fund, which have been awarded to the Montgomery County Office of Veterans Affairs and Veterans Brotherhood in Pennsburg.

"I am thrilled to see funds get awarded where they can significantly improve the lives of our local heroes," Malagari said. "Access to reliable transportation and secure housing are fundamental needs that must be addressed to support those who have selflessly served our nation. I commend the Montgomery County Office of Veterans Affairs and Veterans Brotherhood for their tireless efforts in providing critical services to our local vets."

The Montgomery County Office of Veterans Affairs has been awarded $15,000 to provide transportation services to veterans in need. The grant will ensure that veterans have access to reliable transportation, enabling them to attend medical appointments, employment opportunities and other vital services.

Veterans Brotherhood has been awarded $35,000 to provide housing services to veterans. These funds will contribute to securing safe and affordable housing for veterans, addressing one of the most pressing challenges faced by those who have served our nation.

The funding for the grants was made possible by the contributions of Pennsylvanians who donate $3 when applying for or renewing their driver's license, photo ID, or motor vehicle registration. Additionally, proceeds from the sale of the Honoring Our Veterans and Honoring Our Women Veterans license plates, along with private donations, also support the VTF. Since the inception of the program in 2013, a total of mealy $6.7 million has been awarded to organizations that serve Pennsylvania veterans.

Malagari said he remains committed to advocating for the well-being of veterans within Montgomery County. Through ongoing efforts, he aims to ensure that veterans receive the support and resources they need to thrive in their communities.
