HARRISBURG, Oct. 26 – State Rep. Steve Malagari today said he is pleased to have secured a $50,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development for The Cradle of Liberty Council, Scouting America, to support efforts to expand access to scouting programs for young people throughout the communities it serves.
The grant will help the Council reduce barriers to participation and create additional opportunities for youth to experience the benefits of Scouting, including leadership development, outdoor adventure, citizenship, teamwork, and character building.
“Some of my happiest memories are of my days in Scouting, working at Scout camp and earning my Eagle Scout rank,” Malagari said. “It really shaped the person I am today and I am thrilled to be able to help more kids have access to the joys and benefits of Scouting.”
For generations, Scouting has helped young people develop the skills and values they need to become engaged citizens and community leaders, Malagari said. This grant will help the Cradle of Liberty Council build on that legacy by extending opportunities to more youth and strengthening the communities it serves.
The Cradle of Liberty Council, Scouting America, serves youth and families in the Greater Philadelphia region through programs that promote character development, leadership, citizenship and personal fitness. Through outdoor experiences, community service, and hands-on learning, Scouting helps young people build the skills and confidence to become responsible, engaged members of their communities.
