In addition to the digital eblast newsletter I send every week, I do a printed newsletter annually as well. It’s hot off the press, and my team and I are now hand-delivering copies to constituents. Last night, I attended National Night Out events in Baldwin Township and Dormont. National Night Out brings neighbors, first responders, and community organizations together to strengthen relationships, build trust, and help create safer neighborhoods. It was wonderful to spend time with neighbors and recognize the critical role our first responders play in keeping our communities safe. My sincere thanks to each and every one of them for their dedicated service.

It was also great spending time in Mt. Lebanon this past weekend, starting with Final Friday and continuing Saturday morning at the Mt. Lebanon Partnership Uptown Farmers Market.

And I’m sending my congratulations to Commercial Districts Manager Eric Milliron and Mt. Lebanon Commissioner Jeff Siegler (pictured here with Allegheny County Chief Executive Sara Innamorato), as Mt. Lebanon is poised to receive a $100,000 grant for Phase 1 of the Activate Uptown project through Allegheny County’s Main Streets Allegheny program.

Designed with input from Pashek + MTR and Mt. Lebanon Partnership, Activate Uptown will feature enhanced lighting, public art, and shade structures at Clocktower Plaza and the entrance to the light rail station. With my district office located in Uptown Mt. Lebanon, I’m excited to see these improvements take shape!

Last week, I had the opportunity to tour Turner Dairy Farms’ production facility in Penn Hills along with several other legislators from western Pennsylvania.

Since 1930, Turner has remained family-owned, partnering with 35 local dairy farms within 70 miles of its processing facility. While the facility isn’t located in the district, its commitment to local farmers supports agriculture, manufacturing jobs, and a food supply chain that begins right here in our region.

It was fascinating to learn more about the history, innovation, and the people behind this iconic local brand. Thank you to the Turner team for the warm welcome and informative tour.

Constituents have been asking about the rapid growth of data centers in Pennsylvania and what that could mean for our communities. The reality is that data centers are already operating across our region, and the demand for artificial intelligence and cloud computing is continuing to grow.

As projects move forward, I believe it’s critical to protect Pennsylvania consumers and ensure that big tech developers pay their fair share and operate under strict state and local oversight. That’s why I support legislation that empowers local leaders to make decisions that affect their communities, while setting tough standards for water consumption and compliance. I believe we can encourage innovation while also protecting consumers and our communities.

There are numerous state grant opportunities available that can benefit our district and the broader Pittsburgh region. To help navigate these, we’ve highlighted a few key programs below, with additional information available on my website.

• PA Commission on Crime & Delinquency – Nonprofit Security Grant Fund
  • Who May Apply: Pennsylvania nonprofits serving groups included in bias-motivation categories for hate crimes.
  • Use: Safety and security planning, equipment, training, and technology upgrades.
  • Deadline: September 10, 2026
• Commonwealth Financing Authority- Solar for Schools Program
  • Who May Apply: School districts, intermediate units, career and technical schools, charter schools, and community colleges.
  • Use: Purchase and installation of solar energy equipment, energy storage, engineering, and site preparation ($25 million in state funding available)
  • Deadline: Rolling until funds are depleted.
• Redevelopment Authority of Allegheny County – Gaming Economic Development Tourism Fund
  • Who May Apply: Municipalities, authorities, Councils of Governments (COGs), and nonprofit or for-profit organizations in Allegheny County.
  • Use: Economic development, infrastructure, job training, community improvement, and public safety projects.
  • Deadline: August 14, 2026

The Community Outreach team from Allegheny County Treasurer Eric Rocchi Brusselar’s office will return to our district office on August 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., ready to answer questions about hunting and fishing licenses, kayak and canoe launch permits, tax issues, and other services.

From 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, September 25 at the Salvation Army on McNeilly Road, seniors can connect with valuable community resources, health screenings, state services, and more.

On Wednesday, October 14, from 6-8 p.m. at Dormont Public Library, we’ll have a Renters’ Rights Forum where you can learn more about tenant rights and responsibilities, as well as housing resources.

Congratulations to Mt. Lebanon wrestler Isla Silva, who recently earned the bronze medal at the 2026 U17 World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan, competing in the 49-kilogram weight class. I’m so proud of your hard work and dedication, and your representation of our district on the world stage.

Interns play an important role in my office each summer, assisting constituents, staffing community events, researching policy issues and more. This year, they also worked on our Unclaimed Property initiative, helping reunite locals with money and property they often didn’t know they had.
