Mazzocco: Over $2 million secured for district projects

ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Sept. 16 – Today, state Rep. Jen Mazzocco announced that $2,048,244 in funding from the Department of Community & Economic Development’s Local Share Account will go toward projects in Mazzocco’s legislative district.
Mazzocco partnered with state Sen. Nick Pisciottano (D-Allegheny) and Sen. Wayne Fontana (D-Allegheny) on four projects benefitting from the allotment, which is provided by the distribution of gaming revenues through the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
Of the allotment, $580,000 will go toward fully funding the stabilization of a slope and roadway adjacent to Belleville Street in Castle Shannon. Another $265,201 will fully fund the Medical Rescue Team South Authority’s purchase of an ambulance for use throughout Mt. Lebanon, Dormont Borough, Castle Shannon and Baldwin Township.
The LSA program will also put $550,000 toward the construction of an underground stormwater storage facility in Dormont Borough, as well as $400,000 toward the demolition of the South Parking Garage in Mt. Lebanon.
Mazzocco also partnered with Sen. Devlin Robinson and Rep. Natalie Mihalek to secure $253,043 for the purchase of a new emergency medical response vehicle for Tri-Community South EMS. The investment will strenghten emergency response in Upper St. Clair and neighboring communities.
“With this allotment, we’ll be able to better keep our roadways safe, expand opportunities for our first responders, and make much-needed infrastructure improvements,” Mazzocco said. “I’m proud to secure funding that supports projects directly improving lives in the district.”
