Upcoming holiday district office hours

My district office will be closed for Christmas and New Year’s holidays on Dec. 24, 25, open until noon on Dec. 31 and closed on Jan. 1.

Don’t forget to file your Property Tax/Rent Rebate!

This is a reminder that Dec. 31 is the deadline to file for a rebate on property taxes or rent you paid in 2024.

The Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program is available to income-eligible seniors (65+), widows and widowers (50+), and residents with disabilities (18+). The program was recently expanded to provide larger rebates—ranging from $380 up to $1,000—and to assist more residents. The income limit is $46,520 for both homeowners and renters.

Visit pa.gov/PTRR to learn more about the program and this page to apply online. Our office can also help you apply!

Visiting the Cetronia Ambulance Corps

I was happy to visit the Cetronia Ambulance Corps on Thursday. I spoke with CEO Bob Mateff, Sr. and Carrie Frey, Director Operations.

Providing life-saving care to people every hour of every day is an incredible responsibility. I appreciated the opportunity to discuss both that responsibility and Cetronia’s needs to ensure they can continue saving lives in our communities.

PHRC looking to hear from public about ESAs

I am sharing this request from the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission.

The Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission (PHRC) is developing guidance for the public on how it will evaluate cases involving the use of emotional support animals (ESAs) in education, employment, housing, and public accommodations.

Under the PHRA’s current provisions, emotional support animals are primarily recognized in the context of housing, ensuring that individuals with disabilities have equal access to housing opportunities. However, these protections do not extend to other public spaces or accommodations.

The PHRC is seeking public input specifically on access to public accommodations for individuals with emotional support animals. Unlike service animals, such as guide dogs, emotional support animals are not trained to perform specific tasks. Instead, they provide significant emotional benefits to individuals with certain disabilities.

Public accommodations are places open to the public, like stores, restaurants, amusement parks, schools, colleges, and universities.

The PHRC invites input from individuals who use ESAs, advocacy groups, businesses, and other affected parties. We want to hear about your experiences, concerns, and suggestions. Public comments can be submitted through an online survey from December 1 through December 31, 2025.

Grants to close out the year

Securing grants was a great way to close out the year for the communities in the 133rd District! I was glad to work alongside Sen. Nick Miller to help direct state funding to support the communities we love and represent—everything from firetrucks to playgrounds!

Legislative update

My legislation targeting the spread of illegal, foreign-manufactured e-cigarettes containing nicotine—including flavored products aimed at appealing to youth—is set to become law.

This legislation gives Pennsylvania the tools it needs to protect kids, support law-abiding retailers, and crack down on illegal vapor products that have flooded the market. Currently, there is no clear way for states to determine which products are legally authorized by the FDA. This bill closes that gap and brings accountability to a system that has long been exploited. I am grateful that my colleagues in the House and Senate, along with Attorney General Dave Sunday, prioritized children’s health and made this a bipartisan effort.
