SUN Bucks program opens across the state
|
SUN Bucks, Pennsylvania’s Summer EBT program, is a grocery benefits program that provides households with a one-time payment of $120 for each eligible child to buy food while school is out. Benefits can be used at participating local retailers to purchase groceries.
Many children will receive these benefits automatically, but some households may need to apply. Benefits will be added to an existing SNAP/TANF EBT card or issued on a new Summer EBT card.
If your child is automatically eligible, you can expect to receive their SUN Bucks benefit by the end of July. Use the Eligibility Navigator to determine whether your child is automatically eligible for SUN Bucks or whether you need to apply. The application deadline to receive benefits in 2026 is August 31.
Got questions? Call the SUN Bucks pre-recorded FAQ line at: 1-877-762-1575.

Supporting transparency for data center development
|
Data center developers should not be allowed to enter into Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) with local governments or the state government.
These secretive agreements are the opposite of what should be expected when it comes to dealing with community-altering data centers.
That’s why I am a proud co-sponsor of H.B. 2359 – requiring transparency in data center development. You have a right to know.

Productive legislative month so far in Harrisburg
|
It’s been a busy month of June in the Capitol, and besides H.B. 2446, I’ve voted YES in the House on several important bills that we sent to the Senate, including:
- H.B. 2314 would begin a public education campaign regarding artificial intelligence (AI) which would help the public manage an internet seemingly flooded with AI-generated content.
- H.B. 2254, also called Ryan’s Law, would allow terminal patients to use the medical marijuana they’ve been prescribed while in healthcare facilities, far increasing the ease of their remaining time.
- H.B. 2425 would establish a grant program for career and technical schools to update and modernize curriculum, improving the education they are able to provide for students.
- H.B. 69 would allow for unused prescription medicine to be donated to in-need patients through pharmacies, expanding the existing Cancer Drug Repository Program.
- H.B. 1106 would establish Certified Chiropractic Assistants (CCAs) to assist in therapeutic exercises to give patients better care and ease the burden on chiropractors themselves.
- H.B. 1678 would expand the state’s Gross Receipts Tax to levy taxes on every digital ad sold or disseminated in the commonwealth – and, as amended, the bill would use every penny to prevent property tax hikes for seniors.
- H.R. 480 honors Pennsylvania Court Appointed Special Advocates volunteers for their advocacy and efforts in promoting the safety and wellbeing of Pennsylvania’s Children by designating July 15, 2026, as “Court Appointed Special Advocates Day” in Pennsylvania.

Supporting our firefighters with a proposed new grant program
|
I was proud this week to support the Fire Company Transformational Grant Program, which passed the House on a bipartisan vote. House Bill 2446 would set aside $30 million annually to help qualifying fire companies cover much-needed expenses such as new equipment, firefighter recruitment, station upgrades, and safety and operational improvements.
Our local fire companies perform a vital role in protecting us, yet they must scrape together the funds to do so. House Bill 2446 would provide much-needed financial assistance. The bill now moves to the Senate for consideration.

My office can retire your American Flags
|
Flag Day is this coming Sunday, which presents a great opportunity to retire any American flags you may have. My office can accept your flags and send them to a local service organization in time for Flag Day for proper retirement.
Please contact my office if you have any questions.

Parking spots for veterans at PA Turnpike plazas
|
Two courtesy veterans parking spots were recently announced for installation at each of the 17 turnpike full-service plazas in Pennsylvania. While this is a small way to say “thank you” to our veterans who have sacrificed so much for us, it will have a big impact on many veterans every day as they travel across the state.
