Advancing Pennsylvania’s Manufacturing Future
Earlier this week, we hosted the PA House Democratic Policy Committee at Penn State Behrend to discuss how we’ll keep Pennsylvania a national manufacturing leader.
When students collaborate side-by-side with international manufacturers, you see Erie's vision in action: cultivating the industry leaders of tomorrow right now. Through immersive internships, shared research initiatives, and state-of-the-art facilities, we’re doing more than equipping talent—we’re fueling Pennsylvania’s economic engine.
Thank you to state Rep. Ryan Bizzarro, Assistant Dean Amy Bridger, Chancellor Ralph Ford, Matt Erickson, and everyone who made this event possible.

Celebrating 80 Years of Service
We were honored to congratulate Brookside Fire Company Station 24 on 80 years of unwavering dedication to Harborcreek Township. Since 1945, the brave volunteers and career staff at Brookside have been there for our community—responding to fires, medical emergencies, and every call for help.
To mark this impressive milestone, I presented Brookside Fire Company with an official citation from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, recognizing eight decades of selflessness and professionalism. Their commitment not only keeps us safe but also exemplifies the spirit of community that defines Erie County.

Kicking Off the School Year
What a fantastic way to welcome the new school year! We had a blast at Angela McNair and Zak Sharif’s Back to School Jam this past Sunday—thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy the music, fun activities, and community spirit.
With our young scholars back in classrooms across the district, we also want to remind you to please stay alert behind the wheel and obey the posted speed limits in school zones. Pennsylvania law requires us to slow down and watch for children during school hours. Keeping our roads safe ensures every student arrives ready to learn.

Equip Our Students for Success
Schools across Erie County began welcoming students back this week, and to mark the season we’re collecting supplies for our annual Back-to-School Drive. Please drop off new or gently used items—pens, notebooks, backpacks, art supplies, and more—at my district office. I’ll personally ensure they reach deserving students in our community.
Your generosity helps our young learners start the year equipped and confident. Thank you for supporting our schools and investing in the next generation!
