O’Mara announces $725K in grants for local road improvements

MEDIA, March 26 — State Rep. Jennifer O’Mara today announced that $725,595 in state grants have been awarded to her Delaware County district.

Funding has been distributed as follows:

  • Media Borough: $50,362 for improvements to the pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Providence Road and Fifth Street.
  • Springfield Township: $354,978 for improvements at the Powell Road, Leamy Avenue intersection.
  • Upper Providence Township: $320,255 for improvements to Ridley Creek Road.

“Multiple residents have brought up concerns regarding these roadways to my office, ranging from pedestrian safety to potholes and visibility issues,” O’Mara said. “I’m happy to share that I worked to bring over half a million home to address these problems and spearhead these infrastructure improvements right here in our community.”

The grants are funded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Multimodal Transportation Fund. The MTF provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of the commonwealth.
