O’Mara announces grants awarded to five local fire departments

MEDIA, Feb. 13 — State Rep. Jennifer O’Mara announced today that five local fire companies in her Delaware County district will receive a total of $104,281 in state grants to enhance their operations and emergency response efforts.

Funding is to be awarded as follows:

  • Media Fire Company: $30,246.
  • Morton-Rutledge Fire Company: $13,309.
  • Rose Tree Fire Company: $14,815.
  • Springfield Fire Company: $16,322.
  • Swarthmore Fire and Protective Association: $29,589.

“Our local fire companies are the backbone of community safety, and this funding ensures they have the resources needed to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations,” O’Mara said. “Part of my job as an elected official is to ensure our community’s first responders have the essential equipment, training and upgrades that keep both them and residents safe.”

The grant funding, administered through the Office of the State Fire Commissioner, may be used toward facility renovations, equipment, debt reduction, training, and more. Additional details on the grant program are available online at: https://www.pa.gov/services/osfc/fire-co-ems-grant.html.
