The Pennsylvania Legislative Latino Caucus, chaired by Rep. Johanny Cepeda-Freytiz, hosts the caucus’ fourth annual celebration of Venezuelan Independence Day. Cepeda-Freytiz and Rep. Danilo Burgos have introduced legislation to recognize July 5, 2026 as Venezuelan Independence Day in Pennsylvania, overlapping with the anniversary of when Venezuela became the first colony in the Americas to proclaim independence from Spain in 1811.
