$538,737 transportation grant secured by Probst

HARRISBURG, March 26 – State Rep. Tarah Probst said a $538,737 grant approved today by the Commonwealth Financing Authority will benefit a road project in Smithfield Township.

Westfield North LLC will receive $538,737 from the CFA’s Multimodal Transportation Fund to realign the intersection of Franklin Hill Road and Independence Road in Smithfield Township.

“This grant program encourages economic development and ensures that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to residents across Pennsylvania,” said Probst, D-Monroe/Pike. “I would like to thank the CFA board for recognizing that the project is important to the transportation needs in Smithfield Township.”

Probst said MTF grants may be used for the development, rehabilitation and enhancement of transportation assets to existing communities, streetscape, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets and transit-oriented development.

The CFA was established in 2004 as an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development to administer the state’s economic stimulus packages.
