Hurricane Ida aftermath: Where to get help, and how to assist those in need

In the aftermath of Hurricane Ida, if you are one of the many who need assistance during this time, help is out there.

Montgomery County has frequent updates and resources posted here: www.montcopa.org/ida.

In our region, Upper Dublin Township was hit especially hard. The township has a disaster recovery information page here: www.upperdublin.net/disaster-recovery-information/

I also suggest checking out these articles from the Philadelphia Inquirer:

The devastation is absolutely heartbreaking, but the resiliency of our friends and neighbors in Upper Dublin is inspirational.

I toured the damage Friday along with Governor Tom Wolf, Rep. Madeleine Dean, Senator Maria Collett, Senator Vincent Hughes, Rep. Steve Malagari, Rep. Tim Briggs, Rep. Nancy Guenst, Commissioner Val Arkoosh, Commissioner Ken Lawrence, the Upper Dublin Board of Commissioners, UD Township Manager Paul Leonard, and other township officials. We will be working together to marshal any and all possible resources to alleviate suffering as soon as possible.

A special thank you to all of the first responders, utility crews and others who have been working non-stop on almost no rest since the storm — we all appreciate you more than words can express.

I compiled a photo gallery of some of the damage, some pictures from me and others from township officials, so you can see the extent of the destruction. Trust that we will build back even stronger.
