Sappey congratulates Hilltop Crab House for hospitality grant

KENNETT SQUARE, Aug. 13 – State Rep. Christina Sappey today congratulated Hilltop Crab House Restaurant and Bar in New Garden Township on receiving a $30,000 Covid-19 Hospitality Industry Recovery Program grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development and the Chester County Economic Development Council.

Sappey was on hand for an award presentation to Hilltop’s owner Sean Hanrahan and Hilltop General Manager Heather Brydges, along with DCED Deputy Secretary Steven D’Ettore and CCEDC Chief Operating Office Mike Grigalonis.

“Our locally owned restaurants are vital to our economy here in the 158th, and they continue to experience serious hardships from the pandemic. I am so happy to see these grant dollars go to Hilltop and their warm, welcoming staff,” said Sappey, D-Chester. “These funds were allocated through Senate Bill 109, which I was proud to support and vote for. In total, S.B. 109 provided nearly $1 billion in rental and housing assistance, education support and relief for our hospitality industry.”

CHIRP is a $145 million statewide program created by the commonwealth of Pennsylvania to alleviate revenue losses and pay for eligible operating expenses for certain businesses in the hospitality industry, which has been severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
