Masks Required in K-12 Schools, Early Learning, and Child Care Settings to Keep Our Schools Open and Students in the Classroom
Last week, Acting Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Alison Beam, announced that beginning this past Monday, September 7, 2021, masks will be required in schools, early learning, and childcare settings. This order focuses directly on protecting students and keeping them in schools. This order applies to everyone indoors at K-12 public schools, including brick and mortar and cyber charter schools, private and parochial schools, career and technical centers (CTCs), and intermediate units (IUs).

Additionally, with 17,000 new COVID-19 cases recorded last week by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Montgomery County is strongly recommending masks in all public spaces both indoor and outdoor. We must continue to remain diligent and cautious as we have seen a tremendous uptick in cases and hospitalizations in the Commonwealth over the last several weeks.

Labor Day Activities
We were blessed to be graced with beautiful weather this past weekend as myself, along with my fellow colleagues, participated in the 34th Annual Tri-State Labor Day Parade and Family Celebration at Penns Landing.

It was a fun, family friendly atmosphere and I was happy to have the opportunity to join in the camaraderie!

20th Anniversary 9/11 this Upcoming Saturday
There are so little words to say as we approach the 20th anniversary of that fateful day. We remember the lives lost, both on that day and as a result of the aftermath and response. As we head into the weekend, I ask you take a few moments and attend a local commemoration ceremony.

I will be attending several community events to commemorate the 20th anniversary of 9/11. There will be a Montco Department of Public Safety 9/11 rededication ceremony along with a Lower Providence Township commemoration ceremony. I hope to see you there.
