Why is my electric bill so high? IBEW members offer answers
I want to thank members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, who sat down with me last week to help shed light on the serious issues facing resident ratepayers. Visit this page to see the first in our series of interviews.
Around the district
I’m excited to announce that C.C. Mellor Memorial Library has secured $750,000 in new funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Education for restoration of the building’s roof and interior renovations!
Wood Towers residents: We will be hosting a mobile office on the premises from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, April 9. Stop by for help filing a Property Tax/Rent Rebate or for assistance with other state matters. If you are seeking rebate help, please remember to bring the items listed above.
Last week, our staffer Simon attended an open house for Crossroads of Wilkinsburg, PA, which offers medication-assisted treatment services for people struggling with opioid addiction. Visit this page to learn more about this district resource.
Braddock residents: Come share your feedback on designs for a new park at 714 Washington Ave. The landscape architects for the project will present their initial designs and seek residents’ opinions. The meeting will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, at CarnegieOne, located at 419 Library St.
If you plan to attend, please register by April 15, especially if you have any dietary restrictions, need for accommodations, or want to request childcare at the event.
Home heating assistance extended

Remember these deadlines if you’re planning to vote by mail!
If you are planning to vote by mail in the May 19 Primary Election, please remember that May 12 is the last day to request a mail-in or absentee ballot. The county election office must receive your application by 5 p.m. on that day.
After you complete the ballot, the county election office must receive it by 8 p.m. on May 19. A postmark by that time is not sufficient. If you need to register, please remember that May 4 is the deadline to register to vote in the primary. Visit this page to register and this page to check your registration status.
The Primary Election is May 19, and the polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Visit this page to find your polling place and this page for other voting information.
Mark your calendar for the 13th Annual Disability & Mental Health Summit
