My offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 20 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. I encourage you to use this as a “day on” to work in your community or with your family to uplift the ideas of non-violence and equality for which Dr. King fought so hard and ultimately gave his life.

I was recently informed of my assignments to the standing committees in the House for the new legislative session. Standing committees are the backbone of the legislative process, so I look forward to working with these vital committees to focus on legislation that will improve quality of life for our communities and all Pennsylvanians. Continuing to serve on the House Appropriations Committee as a majority member is a real privilege that I don’t take lightly. The opportunity to be directly involved in crafting the state budget with state agencies and legislative leaders is an honor, and a benefit for our communities in South and Southwest Philadelphia and Delco.
I appreciate the trust that my leaders have placed in me, and the importance placed on our region, with all of these committee assignments.

Celebrating Women in Government
|
I’m proud to represent a district where over 53% of the people are female. Your government should reflect who you are, so in 2025, I’m celebrating and highlighting the women who represent our communities at all levels of government. I’m hosting a monthly series of virtual meetings and in-person events that you should plan to attend to learn more about these amazing women, their achievements, the importance of representation, and how their work impacts our families and neighborhoods.
The first meeting in this series will be virtual on Wednesday, Jan. 29 beginning at 5:30 pm and feature Judge Timika Lane; Ethel Waters, Manager of Constituent Services for State Senator Anthony H. Williams; and Tiphanie White, Chief of Staff for Philadelphia City Council President Kenyatta Johnson.
RSVP today to join the conversation about representation! You can also watch live on Facebook and my website.

Money Back in Your Pocket

The Property Tax/Rent Rebate program has made it easier for older friends and neighbors to stay in their homes and afford groceries, medicine, and so much more.
The application period for the 2025 program has just opened to get a rebate on your 2024 taxes or rent paid. Thanks to changes House Democrats fought for, more people are eligible, and the rebates are bigger than ever!
Give us a call, send an email, or stop by one of my offices to find out if you’re eligible. We can even help you apply.
