COLWYN, Feb. 5 – Today at Colwyn Borough Hall, state Rep. Regina Young, D-Phila./Delaware, presented a check for three state grants that were recently awarded to the borough from the Commonwealth Financing Authority.

The awards are as follows:
Young said these state grants are a lifeline for smaller boroughs like Colwyn who need help updating their infrastructure.
“I’m happy to advocate for these grants that enhance the nuts and bolts in our communities that often go overlooked and keep people connected and healthy,” said Young.
“Improving water and sewer groundwork to protect public health, updating amenities for community gatherings and events, and renovating recreational facilities to give folks a space to unwind and have fun benefit everyone here in Colwyn. This is an essential public service that I’m happy to provide for our community.”
Nafis Nichols, Colwyn Borough manager, thanked the commonwealth for its continued advocacy for the people of the borough.
“I want to thank Rep. Young and Sen. Anthony Williams for the great support in Harrisburg to make sure that our quality of life here in Colwyn Borough is met,” Nichols said.
“These funds are going to go a long way; they are much needed and we’ll continue to work together to ensure we continue to improve the quality of life for all of our residents.”
Funding for both programs is administered by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency established in 2004 to manage Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus initiatives.
The 185th Legislative District includes areas in South and Southwest Philadelphia, along with Tinicum Township and Colwyn Borough in Delaware County.
