Saving Communities | Protecting Eastwick from Flooding

Our neighbors in Eastwick have been dealing with flooding issues along Cobbs Creek for far too long. The significant flooding and damage from recent Tropical Storms Isaias and Ida are still very real for many of us. Through the advocacy and persistence of residents with state and local officials, we finally have the beginnings of help.

A new flood monitoring system has been installed at locations along Cobbs Creek to provide real-time access to water level data for the public. Flood gauges at Saturn Place and further downstream at the South 84th Street Bridge and the Heinz Wildlife Refuge will allow for advanced preparation and a more efficient response to flooding events in Eastwick. There are also cameras installed at three locations in residential areas of the community to visually monitor potential rising flood waters.

All monitoring is publicly accessible on your computer or smart phone at flood-monitoring.phila.gov.
