E-Blast: Maternal Health Awareness

PA Representative Gina Curry banner image

Hello Neighbors, Community Members and Friends,

Next week, on January 23, we observe Maternal Health Awareness Day alongside the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists. In its fifth year, ACOG’s Maternal Health Awareness Day provides an intentional moment to reaffirm our commitment to preventing maternal deaths and advancing legislation that ensures all birthing mothers the best care possible.

This year the PA Black Maternal Health Caucus will recognize Maternal Health Awareness Day at the Capitol on Monday, January 26, when lawmakers will be in Harrisburg for voting session. We’ll be joined by the PA Doula Commission, the Women’s Commission, and state leaders and stakeholders for several events dedicated to bringing awareness to the maternal health crisis in Pennsylvania and nationwide.

As a Caucus we made great progress in 2025 – see the images below for details! – and I look forward to continuing our work in 2026.

To register to attend the events on January 26, register through the PA Doula Commission here.

In service,

Gina H. Curry

State Representative

164th Legislative District
