E-Blast: So grateful to be with the 164th

PA Representative Gina Curry banner image

Hello Neighbors, Community Members and Friends,

I am truly honored and grateful for the opportunity to continue serving the people of Pennsylvania’s 164th Legislative District in the House of Representatives during the 2027–2028 legislative session. It is a privilege to represent our community, and I look forward to continuing this work, listening to community members and stakeholders, and fighting for the priorities that matter most to the families and communities we serve. Thank you for your continued trust and support!

My House colleagues and I remain committed to working alongside Governor Josh Shapiro and our new Democratic Senate Majority in Harrisburg to make life more affordable for Pennsylvania families, strengthen our public education system, expand access to quality healthcare, and invest in stronger, thriving communities across the Commonwealth. Together, we will continue working to deliver meaningful results and improve the quality of life for all Pennsylvanians.

Two important state programs opened this week, and I wanted to make sure you knew about them and about the window to apply.

Pennie, our state’s health insurance marketplace, is now open for enrollment. If you don’t get health insurance through your employer, Pennie is the place to find health plans that fit your needs.

Pennie’s enrollment deadlines change when your health coverage may start:

  • Enrolling now through December 15: Plan coverage starts January 1
  • Enrolling December 16 through January 15: Plan coverage starts February 1

Open enrollment ends on January 15. That means you can’t enroll in a plan after that date unless you have a qualifying life event. You can learn all about Pennie, and enroll, here.

The second program that opened this week is the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, LIHEAP, which helps qualifying families pay their home heating bills through a cash grant that can be between $200 and $1,000. There are income limits based on household size, which you can find here.  LIHEAP helps heat thousands of homes throughout Pennsylvania each winter! To find out if you qualify, visit the LIHEAP website.

My office is here to help you with Pennie, LIHEAP, and more – just give us a call or stop by during normal business hours.

In service,

Attention William Penn School District Families!

TODAY is the final day to complete the William Penn School District Superintendent Search Survey.

As the School Board works with the Chester County Intermediate Unit to select WPSD’s next leader, community feedback is essential. Please take a few minutes to share your input before the window closes by taking the survey here.

Next Week: Get insight into clearing your criminal record, or start the process

Next Thursday, November 12, we’re hosting a free expungement clinic in partnership with State Sen. Tim Kearney! Expungement is the process of clearing your criminal record and is available to individuals with certain convictions.

From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., representatives from Legal Aid of Southeastern PA will be on hand to meet with you and discuss the process of clearing your record. If expungement is the right option for you, you’ll also be able to begin the process at no cost.

Appointments are required, so please call my office at 610-259-7016 to schedule.

Thanks for joining us for Halloween fun!

We had an amazing time celebrating fall and Halloween at our annual Trunk-or-Treat! We saw so many creative costumes and shared plenty of treats. We even had the chance to see Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon dressed as Lady Liberty!

Many thanks to our partners, Cheng’s Martial Arts, UD Arts & Education, and the SPARC, for making this possible!

We need your help with our upcoming events!

We’re looking for volunteers to help with our upcoming Winter Resource Fair and Thanksgiving Resource Fair! There are many ways to get involved, and every helping hand makes a difference. Give us a call, and we’ll be happy to talk with you about how you can help!

Important changes coming to Medicaid in 2027

In July 2025, Republicans in our U.S. Congress passed a bill that makes changes to the Medicaid program, and that bill was signed into law.??

Beginning in January 2027, changes to Medicaid will take effect. Some Medicaid beneficiaries will be required to renew their coverage every six months instead of annually. Additionally, some Medicaid applicants and beneficiaries will need to meet work requirements or qualify for an exemption and report their status to the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (PA DHS). Failure to meet these requirements or report the necessary information could result in a loss of coverage or ineligibility for Medicaid.
