Hello Neighbors, Community Members and Friends,
|
|
This week we held our final budget hearings for 2026. These hearings are the first steps toward finalizing a full budget proposal to bring before the legislature in June. Each meeting focused on a different state department and how the governor's proposed funding will support their programs and initiatives throughout the Commonwealth.
As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, my role was to listen to expert testimony about how funding will be used, and to ask questions so that the committee has a full understanding of whether the proposed budget will fully support the critical programs that each department offers.
While our job is to focus on the full Commonwealth, I always pay full attention to how the departmental funding will impact Delaware County and Legislative District 164. I am proud to be there, ensuring you get the support you need this year and every year that I represent you.
We have two great events coming up for you this month! And after a long final week of budget hearings in Harrisburg, I’m looking forward to getting back out in our community to bring them to you.
Below you’ll find details on these events, happening tomorrow and Wednesday, March 25. There’s also information on the latest budget hearings and a look at what’s to come for Black Maternal Health Week 2026!
Thanks as always for connecting with me here, and for reaching out whenever you need assistance.
In service,
Gina H. Curry
State Representative
164th Legislative District

Registration for our Shred Event has CLOSED
|
We’ve had an overwhelming response to our Shred Event with Rep. Heather Boyd and are sorry to say we had to close registration! We host this event annually, but many of our colleagues also hold local shredding events throughout the year. Be sure to keep an eye out for upcoming opportunities.

March 25: Our Youth Activity & Resource Fair
|
Families with children in kindergarten through grade 12, and anyone with youth they care for, are invited to join us in the Bonner-Prendie High School cafeteria from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25 to get information on youth enrichment programs! Local and regional organizations will be there to tell you about camps and programs available on STEM, sports, arts, tech, music, mentorship, and more!
This is a great chance to check out many youth programs at all once. My team will also be there to answer questions and explain state-sponsored programs and resources for youth!
We ask that you register in advance by filling out the form here.

Wrapping up our State Budget Hearings
|
We finished up the final budget hearings this week, this time meeting to discuss funding for PennDOT, the PA Department of Revenue, and the PA Department of Aging.
During these three meetings we heard testimony about raising the minimum wage, adult-use cannabis and tax revenue, skill games, investing in aging programs and resources, and the system needs and status of our transportation infrastructure statewide.

This week, Friendship Circle Senior Community Services held their Women’s History Month Panel, this year celebrating the women shaping the future of Delaware County. I was proud to be honored alongside Speaker Joanna McClinton for our work in advancing women’s rights and opportunities. My District Office Director, Cintia, kindly attended the reception and accepted the award for me while I was away in Harrisburg.
