E-Blast: Our Youth Career Fair is Tomorrow!

PA Representative Gina Curry banner image

Hello Neighbors, Community Members and Friends,

TOMORROW, Saturday, May 2, we would love to have you join us from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Beverly Hills Middle School for our Youth Career Fair.

We’re bringing together representatives from youth training programs, businesses and organizations seeking summer employees, apprenticeship programs, and more for young people between the ages of 14 and 24. This is a great opportunity to explore future career options and learn about steps you can take now to prepare for those careers, or to line up a summer job for when school lets out in June.

Taking time now to build a foundation of work experience can set you up for a better future career—and help you earn money now, too.

Register in advance here. We look forward to seeing you!

In service,

In the Capitol

On Monday, Rep. Boyd and I welcomed the Bonner-Prendie Championship Basketball Team to the Capitol! In March, these young athletes earned the high school its first PIAA boys’ basketball championship in school history. Congratulations, and thank you for joining us in Harrisburg!

On Tuesday, I had the honor of starting our voting session with the ceremonial prayer. You can watch a video of my remarks below:

In the afternoon, we hosted Delta Day at the Capitol: an annual visit from Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., of which Reps. Mayes, Cephas, Powell and I are all sisters! On Delta Day, members from throughout Pennsylvania come to the Capitol to connect with elected officials, advance legislation and serve as a voice for others. We were joined by the Pine Forge Academy Choir.

I am always so proud of and inspired by the women of Delta Sigma Theta and their tradition of service, social activism, academic excellence and civic engagement.

Finally, on Wednesday, I welcomed leaders from the Sikh community of Delaware County who traveled to Harrisburg for the adoption of my House Resolution 452. This resolution designates April 2026 “Sikh Awareness and Appreciation Month” in Pennsylvania, honoring their cultural and civic contributions to our communities.

Another big win for certified midwives!

Together with my Black Maternal Health Caucus co-chairs, I am proud to announce that this week, Senate Bill 507 passed the House and will be signed into law. The new law will modernize the collaborative structure between OB/GYNs and midwives, and create professional licensure for midwives. Both of these measures will make it possible for midwives to serve more patients and strengthen their role during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care.

Watch my remarks on the bill below.

Congresswoman Scanlon to host office hours for federal updates

Next Tuesday, May 5 at 6:00 p.m., Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon will host “office hours” at her district office in Chester to give attendees a chance to hear about updates from Washington, ask questions, and learn more about federal services they may be eligible for.

Registration is required. Register here.

The Congresswoman’s office address is 2501 Seaport Drive, Chester, PA 19013

Grand Opening of Lincoln Financial Center at Cobbs Creek

Last week, we celebrated the grand opening of Lincoln Financial Center at Cobbs Creek and the first full season of golf on the Cobbs Creek campus since it closed for restoration in 2020. Lincoln Financial partnered with the Cobbs Creek Foundation to make these renovations a reality, and with the TGR Foundation to bring a community focus to the site.

The new center has a driving range, golf entertainment center, restaurant, retail shop, and event spaces. The renovation also includes the new Smilow Woodland TGR Learning Lab at Cobbs Creek, where students in grades 4-12 and their families can join their Money Moves program to learn money-management skills like budgeting, entrepreneurship, investing, and more. The Money Moves program will launch in July.

Opening of the Naylors Run Trail

On April 24, Upper Darby Township celebrated the completion of the newest segment of the Naylors Run Trail with a ribbon-cutting ceremony! The new section (5A) connects Garrett Road and Marshall Road, adding a quarter-mile to the existing trail.

Designed as a welcoming and accessible public space, the trail features new lighting, benches, and trash receptacles to improve comfort and usability for visitors of all ages. It is also a great way to travel between Garrett and Marhsall Roads, and is convenient to Beverly Hills Middle School, Delaware County Community College’s Southeast Center, Monsignor Bonner & Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School, and Upper Darby High School!

Make sure you’re registered to vote!
The deadline is MONDAY, MAY 4!

Not sure if you’re registered to vote in your current neighborhood, or haven’t voted in a while? You should check your voter status now. If you’re not registered, you must register by Monday if you want to vote in the Primary on May 19.

Here are a few other helpful tips:

  • Request a mail-in ballot if you need one

If you won’t be able to make it to the polls between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, you can request a mail-in ballot. Mail-in ballots are available to everyone, for any reason. You do not need to give a reason why.  Mail-in ballot applications must be submitted no later than May 12.

  • Mail your ballot!

Once you receive your mail-in ballot, make sure you fill it out and mail it or drop it off before May 19!

  • …Or, head to the polls!

If you can vote in person and have not already voted by mail, head to your polling place between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19 to cast your vote.
