Our annual Inspi-HER’d Field Day for Girls is taking place 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. TOMORROW, Saturday, September 26!
Due to the weather, we’re moving Inspi-HER’d indoors! It will now be held in the Beverly Hills Middle School gym, 1400 Garrett Road, Upper Darby.
Inspi-HER’d is a FREE celebration of wellness and empowerment that creates a joyful space for girls to be themselves, try something new, build confidence and connect with other girls while exploring what it means to be well in mind, body, relationships and community.
Girls can look forward to an action-packed afternoon featuring dancing, martial arts, Zumba, interactive wellness activities, community resources, special guests, prizes and more. Lunch also will be provided.

Today, September 25, our office will close at 12:00 p.m. to prepare for Inspi-HER’d! Thank you for your flexibility and don’t forget – if you have a girl in fourth through eighth grade, she would LOVE Inspi-HER’d!

$1.4 million coming back to our district!
|
I’m proud to share with you that last week, the Commonwealth Financing Authority announced their most recent round of Local Share Account grants. Our district received nearly $1.4 million in state funding!
The projects awarded include:
- $700,000 for the Darby Creek Joint Authority to rehabilitate a portion of the sanitary sewer system in Lansdowne.
- $300,000 for the Phase II renovation of the Historic Lansdowne Theater.
- $276,173 to replace the roof and HVAC system of the East Lansdowne Administration Building and Community Center.
- $100,000 to clean and inspect the storm sewer in Millbourne
These grants are incredibly important to help maintain and modernize the infrastructure of our towns, and I am glad to see this state investment in our communities.

Celebrating 10 years of the Black Maternal Health Movement
|
As many of you know, one of my core focuses as a legislator is improving outcomes for pregnant and postpartum moms and their babies. The PA Black Maternal Health Caucus has been pushing forward our MOMNIBUS and MOMNIBUS 2.0 legislative package since 2023.
Earlier this month, I joined my BMHC co-chairs Reps. Cephas and Mayes in Atlanta for the Black Maternal Health Conference 2026, where we shared updates on our efforts in Pennsylvania and celebrated the conference’s 10th anniversary of bringing together leading voices in this movement.

Keeping up the work – this time in D.C.!
|
Last week I also headed to Washington, D.C. for the 55th Annual Congressional Black Caucus Legislative Conference. It’s the nation’s leading public policy conference focused on issues impacting Black Americans and the global Black community.
I love this conference because it gives me a chance to meet legislators from many other areas and to share problems, ideas and solutions. And this year, I shared more of the PA Black Maternal Health Caucus’s efforts on the “Lessons from Pennsylvania’s Black Maternal and Neonatal Equity Movement” panel.
While there, I also participated on another panel with the Black Mommas Matter Alliance, who hosted our Atlanta conference last week; met Joy Reid, host of The Joy Reid Show; and spoke during the “BLACK. WOMEN. HEALTH. POWER. A Reception Elevating Black Women's Health, Voices, and Collective Action” event with my PA Black Maternal Health Caucus co-chairs, Reps. Cephas and Mayes!

A warm welcome to MVP Recovery’s new STAR Center in Upper Darby!
|
I’m excited to share that yesterday we celebrated the opening of Delaware County’s new behavioral health urgent care, the MVP Recovery STAR Center, located at 25 Garrett Road.
The STAR Center is designed to provide immediate stabilization, triage, assessment, and referral services from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and it offers a 24-hour hotline, too. This is a huge addition to mental health resources in our area, and I’m happy to welcome the center to Upper Darby!

Celebrating our culture and community

This past weekend was the annual Upper Darby International Festival, and my team got out there to celebrate alongside you while sharing some of our services and resources! I love this event because it really showcases how diverse and welcoming the Upper Darby community is. It was an energizing day full of great food, amazing music, and joyful connection.

General Election Deadline Reminders

As we approach the General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 3, here are some key dates to remember:
- Monday, Oct. 19 – Last day to register to vote.
- Tuesday, Oct. 27– Last day to apply for an absentee or mail-in ballot.
- Tuesday, Nov. 3 – Election Day: Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. Voters must be in line by 8 p.m. to cast their ballot. Mail-in and absentee ballots must be received by your county election office by 8 p.m.

Calling all future leaders

The PA House Fellowship Program is now accepting applications for Spring 2027. Work in the Capitol, draft legislation, network with public officials, and earn a paycheck, with possible college credit. The program is open to Pennsylvania college juniors, seniors, graduate students, and law students with a 3.0+ GPA.
Applications are due by October 1, 2026.
