PA House designates January 23, 2026 ‘Maternal Health Awareness Day’

HARRISBURG, Feb. 4 — State Rep. Gina H. Curry, D-Delaware, celebrated the adoption of a resolution (H.R. 379) designating Jan. 23, 2026 “Maternal Health Awareness Day” in Pennsylvania.

Curry, a co-founder of the Pennsylvania Black Maternal Health Caucus, said the resolution is designed to raise awareness of critical issues surrounding maternal health and the wellbeing of mothers and infants across the state.

“An alarming number of people are still unaware of the maternal health crisis we face in Pennsylvania and nationwide,” said Curry. “We are encouraging residents and health care providers to get educated about this issue and learn how they can better care for themselves, their children, their families, and their neighbors.”

House Resolution 379 was co-sponsored by state Reps. Morgan Cephas, D-Phila., and La’Tasha D. Mayes, D-Allegheny, also co-founders of the PA Black Maternal Health Caucus. The PABMHC works to advance legislation that improves health outcomes for mothers and infants.

The resolution was adopted yesterday by a vote of 168-29.
