Delloso: $200K awarded to local fire companies, EMS

RIDLEY PARK, Feb. 16 – Rep. David Delloso, D-Delaware, announced today the Office of the State Fire Commissioner awarded about $203,654 to equip firefighters and EMS providers with the resources to respond to emergencies in Delaware County.

“I fight for these crucial allocations to our fire and EMS companies with every new state budget,” Rep. Delloso said. “These are the people in our community who are here for us at our most vulnerable moments, and this funding will help ensure they have all the resources they need to respond to local emergencies.”

The fire and EMS companies serving the 162nd Legislative District that received grants are:

  • Folcroft Fire Company No. 1 - $30,396 (Fire & EMS)
  • Folsom Fire Company No. 1 - $16,563 (Fire)
  • Glenolden Fire Company No. 1 - $16,174 (Fire)
  • Holmes Fire Company - $32,952 (Fire & EMS)
  • Milmont Park Fire Company No. 1 - $13,256 (Fire)
  • Morton-Rutledge Fire Company - $14,423 (Fire)
  • Norwood Fire Company No. 1 - $31,563 (Fire & EMS)
  • Prospect Park Fire Company No. 1 - $16,952 (Fire)
  • Ridley Park Fire Company No. 1 - $15,007 (Fire)
  • Sharon Hill Fire Company - $16,368 (Fire)

The grants are from the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program, administered by the OSFC and authorized by Act 91 of 2020 until June 30, 2024. Rep. Delloso is supporting legislative efforts to reauthorize and double the size of the program to $60 million in this year’s state budget. 

Fire and EMS companies may use the funding for the following types of projects:

  • Construction and/or renovation of facilities.
  • Purchase or repair of fixtures, equipment, and furnishings necessary for the provision of fire, ambulance, and rescue services.
  • Reduction of debt associated with facilities or equipment.
  • Training and certification of members.
  • Materials for fire prevention education for the public.
  • Programs aimed at attracting and retaining volunteer firefighters.
