The PA Department of Labor & Industry announced the availability of $200,000 of funding for one award for the Veterans Employment Program Grant. This Notice of Grant Availability seeks applications to support initiatives in Delaware County that provide employment services for Veterans.

2021 Governor’s Awards for Environmental Excellence

The nomination period for the 2021 Governor’s Awards for Environmental Excellence is now open. 

The Governor’s Awards for Environmental Excellence is open to any Pennsylvania business, farm, government agency, educational institution, non-profit organization and individual that has created, or participated in, the development of a project that promotes environmental stewardship and economic development in Pennsylvania.

DEP oversees the awards selection process, evaluating projects on environmental protection, climate change, sustainability, partnership, economic impact, innovation, environmental education and outreach. Projects will also be judged on their commitment to environmental justice. 

Application Deadline: Monday, Dec. 21 at 5 p.m.

Small Business Advantage Grant for Farmers and Small Businesses

Grant funding for energy efficiency and pollution prevention projects for small business owners and farmers are still available from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) through the Small Business Advantage Grant program.

Pennsylvania farmers and other small business owners with 100 or fewer full-time employees are eligible for the grants. Projects must save the business a minimum of $500 and 25 percent annually in energy consumption or pollution related expenses. Natural resource protection projects are exempt from the minimums; however, the projects must be able to quantify sediment and nutrient reductions into nearby waterways.

Businesses can apply for 50 percent matching funds for equipment or materials, up to $7,000, when adopting energy-efficient or pollution prevention equipment or processes. 

Application Deadline: Applications are considered on a first come, first served basis, and will be accepted until fiscal year 2020-21 funds are exhausted, or Monday, April 12, 2021, whichever occurs first.

Business Education Partnership Grant

The Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry announced the availability of $300,000 of funding for the Business Education Partnership Grant. The purpose of this Notice of Grant Availability is to solicit grant applications to implement BEP programs that allow school districts to collaborate with local business and local workforce development boards to educate students (future workforce), parents and guardians regarding high-priority occupations and career pathways. These programs create partnerships with educators, employers, parents/guardians and students to provide career-related experiences, exposure to different workplace opportunities and knowledge regarding opportunities in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Driving PA Forward Grants

If you’re a business owner, government, or community organization in Pennsylvania and want to transition from older diesel vehicles to cleaner fuel vehicles, the Driving PA Forward Grants may offer you that opportunity.

Four funding programs are open for applications now to support your switch to new engine technologies such as electric, compressed natural gas, propane, and clean diesel. These cleaner technologies can significantly reduce pollutants from freight and delivery trucks, transit buses, school buses, and other vehicles and transportation related equipment. 

Currently open grants include: Level 2 Electric Vehicle Charging Rebate Program, Version 2.0; DC Fast Charging and Hydrogen Fueling Grant Program, CY2020; Onroad Rebate Program, CY2020; and the Truck and Bus Fleet Grant Program, CY2020.

Of note, three additional grant programs are expected to open soon. These programs are: Electric Cargo Handling Grant Program, CY2020 Round 2; Marine and Rail Freight Movers Grant Program, CY2020 Round 2; and the Pennsylvania State Clean Diesel Grant Program, FY2020.

Deadlines for these grant opportunities vary and some grants are allocated on a first-come first-served basis, so please look at each individual program to ensure your timely application.
