Donatucci announces $320K grant for airport improvements

(Aug 28, 2020)

PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 28 – State Rep. Maria Donatucci, D-Phila./Delaware, has announced a total of $319,987 in grant funding to United Airlines for necessary infrastructure upgrades to ensure environmental impact standards are followed. “I am proud to announce that United Airlines will be receiving this grant funding. It is imperative to continually update our technology to ensure the safety of both the environment and workers,” Donatucci said. “We remain committed to advancing our infrastructure and serving our community.” The purpose of the United Airlines project, which has been allocated the funding, is to improve air quality and reduce emissions from mobile sources by removing older, diesel-powered airport ground support equipment -- cargo loaders and equipment tugs -- from service and replacing them with all-electric airport ground support equipment. United Airlines is a major U.S. passenger airline service with a base of operations at the Philadelphia International Airport. In total, the project proposed to replace seven pieces of diesel-powered GSE. “We must continue to adapt and innovate considering our impact on the environment and the changing climate conditions,” Donatucci noted. “This is critical for long-term sustainability.” The funding is part of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s Driving PA Forward grant program. Donatucci condemns Delco officer’s social post

(Jun 12, 2020)

PHILADELPHIA, June 12 – State Rep. Maria Donatucci, D-Phila./Delaware, said the following in response to a vitriolic social media post made by police officer Sgt. Robert “Skippy” Carroll. “Police officers are sworn to protect the public. And there are many officers who are doing very good by this sworn duty and who are appreciated by the Delco community, residents and businesses alike,” Donatucci said. “That is why I am both angered and deeply disappointed by Sgt. Carroll taking to social media to express his thoughts in such a harmful, divisive and appalling way. “The ongoing protests against police brutality and calls to reform our criminal justice system in a significant and meaningful way are necessary and justified in order to effect change. Heated statements like the one from Sgt. Carroll are not. They do harm to everyone, including his fellow officers who do not share his sentiment. “I trust that the investigation into Sgt. Carroll’s comments will be thorough and that his reprimand, including whatever course of action is deemed necessary, be swift,” she said. Read more
