Kosierowski announces more than $340K for safety upgrades. Funding will improve Meredith Street safety crossing in Carbondale

HARRISBURG, April 16 – State Rep. Bridget M. Kosierowski, D-Lackawanna, announced a grant totaling $ 344, 693 has been awarded to the Lackawanna Heritage Valley Authority to improve the Meredith Street safety crossing in Carbondale . The grant was awarded through the state’s Multimodal Transportation Fund. According to Kosierowski, the approved project was one of 43 announced throughout the state today to address improvements in highway, bridge, rail, pedestrian trails and bike trails. The grant award will address the following: Improved signaling and lig hting . Colored concrete, sidewalks and barriers to kee p pedestrians/bicyclists safe while crossing on Business Route 6. “It’s via investments like these that our neighborhoods and communities are enriched,” Kosierowski said. “These improvements will better ensure the safety of pedestrians and bicyclists attempting to cross Route 6 where two segments of the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail meet.” PennDOT evaluated the applications and made selections based on criteria such as safety benefits, regional economic conditions, the technical and financial feasibility, job creation, energy efficiency and operational sustainability. Kosierowski welcomes new behavioral health partnership in Lackawanna County

(Mar 31, 2021)

MOOSIC, March 31 – A new venture announced this week between Geisinger and Acadia Healthcare will bring more behavioral care and treatment to northeastern Pennsylvania families, according to state Rep. Bridget M. Kosierowski, D-Lackawanna. “Mental health remains a serious crisis in Pennsylvania and it not only impacts adults, but adolescents, children and their families, as well,” Kosierowski said. “This partnership will provide easier access to state-of-the-art care and potentially life-saving treatments to patients and their loved ones.” The Geisinger and Acadia partnership will include the construction of a 73,000-square-foot facility in Moosic with construction expected to begin this fall and be completed in 2022. The facility will include 96 beds and plans to provide services to both adult and pediatric patients. The partnership also includes plans to build a second behavioral health facility in Danville, Montour County. More information on the Geisinger and Acadia Healthcare partnership can be found here . Kosierowski: Area school districts to receive over $21 million in federal funding to support in-person learning

HARRISBURG, March 30 – School districts in the 114 th Legislative District are expected to receive federal funding totaling $21.22 million to help return to the classroom, state Rep. Bridget M. Kosierowski, D-Lackawanna, announced today. “The past year fighting the COVID-19 pandemic has left school district budgets drained, pushed virtual learning to the limit for teachers and students and created a wide-array of new challenges to education,” Kosierowski said. “With this funding, schools will be able to address students’ learning gaps and ensure programs and resources are in place for students and faculty to safely return to the classrooms.” Kosierowski said the breakdown of the federal funding for schools in the 114 th District is as follows: Abington Heights School District - $2.34 million. Carbondale Area School District - $5.81 million. Forest City Regional School District - $1.65 million. Lakeland School District - $1.76 million. Mid Valley School District - $4.08 million. Old Forge School District - $1.89 million. Riverside School District - $3.69 million. The funding is part of the American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary School Read more
