My office is here to help you

Dear neighbor,

In addition to my mobile office hours and the events I hold throughout the community, please remember that my dedicated and talented staff can help you with a wide variety of state-related matters every day at my Brookhaven office, located at 115 E. Brookhaven Road. From filing for a Property Tax/Rent Rebate to obtaining a disability placard or SEPTA senior pass, we are here for you.

I also work hard to connect municipal officials, emergency service providers and local organizations with state funding that might be available to them. I keep an updated list of state grant opportunities on my website.

The Shapiro administration also launched a handy tool to search for grants. Visit this page to discover what’s available.

As always, please reach out by phone at 610-534-6880 or email at RepKrueger@pahouse.net if you have a question or want to offer feedback.

Mitzvah Circle Visit

Last week I joined fellow legislators from the PA Southeast Delegation to visit Mitzvah Circle, an amazing organization that serves families across the region, including many in Delaware County, providing necessities, clothing, and support to people and families struggling with poverty, homelessness and serious illness. Our group filled over 70 boxes of essentials for local families in need.

For Federal Workers Recently Separated from Employment

The Department of Labor and Industry recently updated its web page for federal employees and shared some of their information with me: Federal Civilian Employees (UCFE) | Department of Labor and Industry | Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

The first piece of information on their page explains location and eligibility. “Duty station” is generally the place where the work was performed. It’s important to note that the federal agency assigns the duty station, and L&I will use the duty station which the federal agency provides. As this is not something the State Department controls, people will need to know their duty station from their separating employer. This information will eventually be printed on the SF-50, but affected people may not receive their separation forms for months after their employment ends.

The process for federal workers works like this:

  1. The person files a claim.
  2. L&I’s system reaches out to the federal agency the claimant indicated as their employer to request wages and separation information.
  3. When wages are received, those wages are added based on federal duty station and program rules.
    • Note: claimants must continue filing weekly as long as they are still unemployed. However, a claim cannot proceed toward payments or adjudication until the claim is financially eligible.
  4. When separation information is received, L&I will adjudicate using PA law if there is an issue to be addressed. At this point, the claim proceeds like any other regular UC claim.

As always, please feel free to reach out to my office for help with any state-related issues.

Sincerely,

Rep. Leanne Krueger
