COUNTDOWN TO FIREARMS DEER SEASON & DONATING DEER TO FIGHT HUNGER

The countdown is on for firearms deer season, which starts Saturday, Nov. 30.

As majority chair of the PA House Game & Fisheries Committee, I wanted to share some quick reminders from the PA Game Commission to help hunters prepare for opening day.

  • Sight in your rifle.
  • Scout the areas you plan to hunt.
  • Pack your bag with essentials (including those snacks).
  • Review the weather report and plan accordingly.
  • Refresh your memory on hunting regulations.
  • Share your hunting plans.

Did you know that hunting can also help fight hunger? If you don’t have room in your freezer from your filled tags, please consider donating to Hunters Sharing the Harvest.

HSH has delivered nearly 2 million pounds of venison to those in need since 1991. An average deer provides 200 servings of high-protein, low-fat meat.

It’s FREE to donate! Hunters can participate by taking their deer to a participating processor.

Good luck. Have fun. Hunt safely. Donate a deer to HSH!

My office can help with applications for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program until Dec. 15. Please call 412-264-4260 to schedule your appointment.

The program offers rebates on property taxes or rent paid in 2023 to help older adults and people with disabilities.

Last year, we passed a law that made nearly 175,000 more people eligible, along with increasing the top refund for both homeowners and renters to $1,000.
