Madden named 2025-06 Legislative Champion for her work to improve the lives of senior citizens

HARRISBURG, Oct. 5 – LeadingAge PA, an association that advocates for seniors and aging services providers in Pennsylvania, today presented state Rep. Maureen Madden with the 2025-26 Legislative Champion Award.

Madden, chair of the House Aging and Older Adult Services Committee, was recognized for her steadfast support of Pennsylvania’s seniors and related providers.

“I am deeply honored to receive this award,” said Madden, D-Monroe. “Aging is generational and each of us experiences it differently. That’s why it is so important for older adults to have access to the programs, services and resources they need to live with dignity, independence and purpose. I’m proud to continue advocating for policies that help older Pennsylvanians live their best lives.”

Madden was presented with the award by Chuck Quinnan, senior vice president and chief government affairs officer, and Austin Cawley, legislative director, both of LeadingAge PA.

As committee chair, Madden has introduced and shepherded legislation to improve seniors’ lives, including expanding the state’s popular Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program; creating the state’s Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Office; improving adult vaccination rates and reducing preventable illness across the commonwealth; providing support to grandparents raising their grandchildren; enhancing the PA LIFE program to educate about in-home alternatives to nursing home care; and addressing the financial crisis facing many of the state’s nursing and long-term care homes.

Madden has been chair of the House Aging and Older Adult Services Committee since March 2024 and state representative since 2017.

LeadingAge PA represents more than 400 member communities related to aging services in the state.
