State Rep. Maureen Madden applauded the $414,600 in state funding coming to Monroe County through Pennsylvania’s Community Conservation Partnerships Program, supporting efforts to preserve open space, plan for future recreational needs and improve local parks.

The grants include:

  • Lackawanna and Monroe County— $75,000 for park and open space and greenway plans.
  • Stroud Region Open Space & Recreation Commission — $78,100 to develop a plan for the future of local parks, recreation and open space.
  • Stroud Township — $156,500 to make improvements at Jay Albertson Park.
  • Wildlands Conservancy Inc. – $105,000 for Delaware River Watershed Restoration.

“These grants show a shared commitment to protecting the lands, waters and wildlife that define our community. This investment strengthens our ability to conserve critical natural habitats and ensures that the rich beauty that lies in our communities is protected. We are deeply grateful for this support, which not only enhances our ability to care for these treasured spaces, but also inspires continued protection, and appreciation for the natural world. Together, we celebrate a future where conservation is not just a priority, but a promise we proudly uphold."

The Community Conservation Partnerships Program is administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and provides grants to support recreation, conservation and community revitalization projects across Pennsylvania.
