Rep. Madden brings home over $1.85 million to the 115th District for area projects

State Rep. Maureen Madden, D-Monroe, today announced that the115 th Legislative District will benefit from $1.85 million in state funding. “Working alongside my colleagues on both sides of the aisle in the House and Senate, I am proud to announce this funding for essential projects in my district,” Madden said. The projects and awards are as follows: $650,484 to East Stroudsburg Borough to rehabilitate the Middle Dam. < > to the Monroe County Industrial Development Authority to upgrade the lighting systems of the Mountain Center in Coolbaugh Township, Monroe County. $238,492 to Stroudsburg Borough to purchase solar compacting garbage cans in downtown Stroudsburg, Monroe County. $217,524 to the Monroe County Industrial Development Authority, on behalf of East Stroudsburg University, for a community health education and simulation center. $215,000 to the Monroe County Industrial Development Authority, on behalf of the Pocono Mountains Municipal Airport Authority to replace the airport’s aviation fueling system. $105,000 to the Monroe County Industrial Development Authority on behalf of Coolbaugh Township Volunteer Fire Co. to upgrade an existing firehouse to use as an emergency shelter for residents in case of a natural disaster. $7,663 to Stroudsburg Borough to purchase solar parking garage lights for a two-story parking lot between Ann Street and Hood Alley located in the borough. Madden: Mervine Road project awarded more than $500,000

HARRISBURG, Feb. 1 – State Rep. Maureen Madden, D-Monroe, announced today that a Stroud Township project will received more than $500,000 in funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. The $521,616 grant will assist the township in replacing an existing steel beam crossing that carries Mervine Road over Cherry Creek, allowing motor vehicles and pedestrians to continue accessing the road. “I am happy to see this important project receive support from the state and PennDOT,” Madden said. “This grant will provide important improvements to Mervine Road, ensuring the safety of our community members and general maintenance benefitting those who regularly utilize the roadway.” The Stroud Township project is one of 50 projects awarded grants from the state’s Multimodal Transportation Fund. Rep Madden applauds Hospice House planned re-opening in Monroe County

State Rep. Maureen Madden, D-Monroe, is pleased the Hospice House and inpatient hospice services in Monroe County will resume operation upon approvals and staffing the facility. Representatives of Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono and an advisory committee of community members who formed to assess the facility’s future made the announcement today after a 90-day review which concluded that reopening the facility for local inpatient services would be in the area’s best interest. "Monroe County's first and only hospice center, built by the people, for the people, is finally re-opening its doors,” Madden said. “The residents expressed sadness and anger when the hospice closed, and protested over the loss of such a vital part of the community. Their voices have been heard and this needed facility and its services again will be available to the community." Madden said the opening of the East Brown Street facility in East Stroudsburg is dependent upon regulatory approvals from the Pennsylvania Department of Health and how quickly staff can be hired. The committee also recommended building referrals and increased community awareness throughout Monroe County and northeast Pennsylvania. Maureen Madden, D-Monroe, took the oath of office to begin her second term in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 2019-20 legislative session. Madden, who was surrounded by family and friends on her second swearing-in day, said she is ready to continue working for her constituents by bringing much needed project funding to her district. “Just in my first term I brought home close to $10 million for local projects and I will continue to fight for the people of my district,” Madden said. Madden secures over $46,000 in child advocacy grant for Monroe County

STROUDSBURG, Dec. 12 – The Children’s Advocacy of Monroe County was awarded $46,939 to enhance and expand child-related services within Monroe County and the surrounding counties, state Rep. Maureen Madden announced today. “Monroe County needs this type of funding to oversee the day-to-day activities at the child advocacy center,” said Madden, D-Monroe. “Centers like this are an integral part of our community development, especially when children are involved in the healing and recovery efforts.” Funding also will be used to support the salary of an executive director, an intake/administrative assistant and other operating needs. A goal of the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency is to increase the number of children served by child advocacy centers in Pennsylvania, increase the number of under resourced, geographically isolated, rural and /or underserved communities. Also, CCD centers seek to improve the quality of joint investigations, forensic interviews, expert medical evaluations and trauma-informed mental health interventions provided to help child abuse victims. 73 grants from six different categories totaling $5.7 million were awarded by the Children’s Advocacy Center Advisory Committee across the state. Pocono Mountains Municipal Airport to receive $30,000 grant

STROUDSBURG Dec. 6 – State Rep. Maureen Madden, D-Monroe, announced today that the Pocono Mountains Municipal Airport was awarded $30,000 in grant funding. The funding will be used to acquire necessary equipment to maintain the airfield. The Pocono Mountains Municipal Airport is one of 26 airports across the state to receive a combined total of more than $6 million in state grants. “Investments into the upkeep and maintenance of the airport are necessary,” Madden said. “The airport provides significant and positive economic impact on our region, and this funding aids in assuring operations will continue to be safe and efficient.” The investments include $2.2 million in state funding from the state Transportation Department’s Aviation Development Program, which comes from the state’s jet fuel tax, and $4 million from the multimodal fund.
