Malagari remains on Local Government and Liquor Control committees, receives two additional appointments

HARRISBURG, Jan. 14 – State Rep. Steve Malagari, D-Montgomery, today announced he will remain on the House Local Government and Liquor Control committees as well as serve on the Consumer Affairs and Tourism and Recreational Development committees this legislative session.

As a new member of the House Consumer Affairs Committee, Malagari said he said he looks forward to working on legislation aimed at protecting consumers’ rights. Also, as a new member of the House Tourism and Recreational Development Committee, Malagari said one of his top priorities is to help rebuild and revitalize Pennsylvania’s small businesses severely impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

“The tourism industry is a major contributor to Pennsylvania’s economy, and these small businesses really suffered last year,” Malagari said. “I just introduced a bill that would help local businesses in the hospitality and entertainment fields by providing them with grants, but I know that isn’t enough. I look forward to working with my colleagues on the Tourism and Recreational Development Committee and ensuring that small business owners can thrive in 2021.”

Throughout his first term, Malagari used his experiences as a Lansdale Borough Council member and Montgomery County Transportation Authority member to drive his work in the Local Government Committee. Before taking office, Malagari also worked as a local beverage seller which helped him address new and existing challenges related to the Liquor Control Committee.

“I look forward to continuing to use my experiences and ideas to positively impact local governments and municipalities throughout the commonwealth,” Malagari said.
