Malagari announces $2 million in funding for Souderton Mennonite Homes

Senior living community will use funds to renovate, reconfigure layout

LANSDALE, April 22 – State Rep. Steve Malagari is proud to announce $2 million in funding has been approved for improvements to the Souderton Mennonite Homes – Senior Living Community.

“I’m proud to see state dollars headed back to our community for this important project to help renovate the community, as well as provide more effective common spaces and amenities for residents,” Malagari said.

Gov. Tom Wolf signed the approval for the funds Friday afternoon, utilizing the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program.

The funds will provide for the Souderton Mennonite Homes facility, with 38,500 square feet of new construction and 13,000 square feet of renovation. It will maintain the existing bed count while transitioning to fully private rooms. It will build 18- and 26-bed additions, and existing rooms and interior spaces will be reconfigured. Other improvements include: a new entrance, installation of elevators, landscape lighting, an emergency electrical generator, new power service, asphalt paving, resident unit flooring, and resident unit HVAC.
