O’Mara receives committee assignments for new legislative session
Including new appointment to House Tourism Committee

HARRISBURG, March 10 – State Rep. Jennifer O’Mara, D-Delaware, today announced her committee assignments for the 2023-24 legislative session. She will return to three committees she’s served on previously and begin work on one new one.
O’Mara has been appointed to serve on the following PA House standing committees:
- Labor and Industry: Reviews legislation on issues such as the state’s minimum wage, unemployment compensation, workers’ compensation, building and construction codes, and workplace health and safety. The committee is responsible for oversight of the Department of Labor and Industry, State Civil Service Commission, Labor Relations Board, Unemployment Compensation Appeals Board of Review, Industrial Board, Workers’ Compensation Appeal Board, and the Office for the Deaf and Hearing Impaired.
- Tourism and Economic and Recreational Development: Reviews legislation that pertains to the state’s large tourism industry. The committee has jurisdiction over the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. The committee’s subcommittees include Arts and Entertainment, Recreation, and Travel Promotion.
- Transportation: Reviews legislation relating to all modes of transportation in the commonwealth, including highways, airports, train service, public transit, ports, the Turnpike Commission, the State Transportation Commission and the operations of the Department of Transportation.
- Veterans’ Affairs and Emergency Preparedness: Reviews legislation concerning Pennsylvanians who serve and have served in the U.S. armed forces, Pennsylvania National Guard, and firefighting, emergency medical, emergency management, and homeland security services.
“I look forward to continuing my work with the Labor, Transportation and VAEP committees, plus beginning work with the Tourism Committee. Since my new district includes Media Borough, it’s so important that that community’s voice is present at this table since they make such a large economic impact on Delaware County,” O’Mara said. “These committee assignments reflect some of my top priorities in Harrisburg. Since committee composition was revamped under the new House rules, I’m hopeful that members will be able to work together in a bipartisan manner to move bills that truly benefit the people of Pennsylvania.”
O’Mara added that some key issues she hopes these four committees will consider include raising Pennsylvania’s minimum wage, revitalizing communities’ downtowns throughout the commonwealth, improving road conditions, and increasing access to mental health services for veterans and first responders.
