Wilkes to receive $1 million in RACP funding for pharmacy upgrades

WILKES-BARRE, Dec. 22 -- State Rep. Eddie Day Pashinski, D-Luzerne, announced this morning the approval of a Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grant totaling $1 million for upgrades to the pharmacy program within Wilkes University’s Stark Learning Center. “This funding is a tremendous boon to Wilkes University’s Stark Learning Center and its Nesbit School of Pharmacy as a whole,” Pashinski said. “Their pharmacy program is already a shining example nationally that trains our future pharmacists in the multitude of fields necessary for careers in the pharmacy industry. I would like to especially thank Governor Tom Wolf, as well as the officials from Wilkes University and Wilkes-Barre who recognized the importance of this grant and gave it their support.” “I would like to thank Governor Tom Wolf, Senator John Yudichak, Representative Eddie Day Pashinski and our entire legislative leadership for their continued support of Wilkes University and our pharmacy program,” said President Patrick F. Leahy. “In the 20-year history of the Nesbitt School of Pharmacy, over 1,100 individuals have received their Pharm. D. degrees from Wilkes, and the vast majority of these graduates currently work as practicing pharmacists in Pennsylvania. Gov. Tom Wolf signed H.B. 790 into law yesterday, creating the Controlled Plants and Noxious Weeds Act that was introduced by Rep. With two bills dealing with domestic violence sitting in the House Judiciary Committee, state Rep. Eddie Day Pashinski, D-Luzerne, cited Domestic Violence Awareness Month as the appropriate time to move the bills forward. “I realize that the focus this month has been on completing our long overdue budget, but October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and it’s important that we not only recognize the danger posed by domestic violence, but also act to further protect those who are victims of it,” Pashinski said.
