O’Mara: Nearly $1.5 million in grants will benefit projects in 165th District

HARRISBURG, Dec. 18 — State Rep. Jennifer O’Mara, D-Delaware, today announced that nearly $1.5 million in grants has been awarded for eight projects that will benefit the 165th Legislative District.

The grants come from Local Share Account funds and the Greenways, Trails, and Recreation Program, which are distributed by the Commonwealth Financing Authority.

“One of my most important roles is to be an advocate in Harrisburg for Delaware County, so I am thrilled to see these dollars coming back home,” O’Mara said. “These funds will go to worthwhile projects that will make our streets and sidewalks safer, provide ambulance services and recreational opportunities, among other things. They will improve our quality of life in Delaware County.”

The projects receiving grants are:

  • Media Borough: $80,000 for Barrall Field and tennis courts.
  • Central Delaware County Authority: $250,000 for Stony Creek interceptor rehabilitation.
  • Media Fire Hook & Ladder: $375,000 for an ambulance replacement.
  • Media Borough: $141,000 for pedestrian enhancements on State Street.
  • Swarthmore Borough: $300,000 for safety and streetscape improvements on Myers Avenue.
  • Upper Providence Township: $32,252 for speed traffic initiatives.
  • Delaware County: $224,274 for flood and stream gauges.
  • Delaware County Economic Development Corp: $67,943 for a Teachers Teammates delivery van.
