Bradford announces $1.3 million for community improvements

HARRISBURG, Dec. 19 – State Rep. Matt Bradford today announced $1.3 million in state funding that will provide important upgrades to improve community safety and recreation.

“Central Montco is home to so many important resources, from community buildings and safety equipment to recreational spaces. Our local municipalities and organizations are working to ensure that we can enjoy these resources for years to come,” Bradford said. “I’m pleased that these local projects are receiving financial support from the state, and I’m grateful to the Shapiro Administration for investing in our community.”

Three projects were awarded funding from the state’s Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program for the development, rehabilitation and improvements to public parks, recreation areas, greenways, trails, and river conservation:

  • Skippack Township: $103,966 for its trail improvement project.
  • Variety, the Children’s Charity of the Delaware Valley: $100,000 for improvements to its all-abilities community gym and $52,000 for a community accessible playground on its campus in Worcester Township.

Five projects were awarded funding from the state’s Local Share Account, which distributes gaming revenues to support local projects that will improve the quality of life in the community.

  • East Norriton Township: $420,668 to purchase public works and emergency response vehicles to serve the community and reduce fuel and maintenance costs.
  • Schwenksville Borough: $96,604 for improvements to the Perkiomen Trail, providing pedestrians with a direct connection to downtown Schwenksville, and $89,201 for new school zone signs and flashing beacons near the borough and Schwenksville Elementary School.
  • Whitpain Township: $100,000 to construct a new community center.
  • Worcester Township: $353,691 for building and maintenance upgrades to the Worcester Fire Company firehouse.
