Heat Advisory for Lehigh County

Dangerously high temperatures are expected over the coming days. Extreme heat can quickly become life-threatening, especially for older adults, young children, individuals with chronic medical conditions, outdoor workers, and those without access to air conditioning.

Please take the following precautions:

• Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day.

• Stay in air-conditioned buildings whenever possible.

• Check on elderly family members, neighbors, friends, and anyone who may be vulnerable to the heat.

• Never leave children, older adults, or pets unattended in a vehicle—even for a few minutes.

• Ensure pets have plenty of fresh water, shade, and a cool place to rest.

• If you work outdoors, take frequent breaks, stay hydrated, and watch for signs of heat-related illness.

• Know the warning signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, including dizziness, confusion, nausea, weakness, heavy sweating, or loss of consciousness. If someone is experiencing signs of heat stroke, call 911 immediately.

A simple phone call or visit to check on someone could save a life.

Please help us protect our community during this dangerous heat wave.

At the Capitol

Video

This week in session, I offered a prayer asking for wisdom, humility, and compassion as we serve everyone who calls Pennsylvania home. May we seek understanding over judgment, choose unity over division, and never forget that our greatest responsibility is serving others.

We also celebrated Pride Month at the Capitol this week. But love, respect, and acceptance don’t belong to just one month. They are values we should carry with us every day. I’m grateful to stand with a community that reminds us that everyone deserves to be seen, heard, and valued. Together, we are stronger.

My Statement on the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Trump v. Barbara

This week, United States Supreme Court reaffirmed birthright citizenship under the 14th Amendment, protecting the rights of every child born in this country.

As a mother, a community member, and your State Representative, I believe every child deserves the opportunity to grow up knowing they belong, that they are protected, and that they have the same rights under the law.

No matter where our families come from, our children are our future. They deserve the chance to dream, to learn, and to build a better tomorrow.

Today, those protections remain in place, and that matters.
