Takac: More than $1.3 million awarded to College and Union Townships for transportation projects

HARRISBURG, Aug. 18 – More than $1.3 million in Multimodal Transportation Fund grants will support two Centre County projects, including $925,000 for roadway safety and improvements along the Shiloh Road corridor in College Township and $437,284 for repaving Unionville Pike in Union Township, state Rep. Paul Takac, D-Centre, announced today.

“This is great news for College and Union townships and the long-term projects being funded,” Takac said. “Planned upgrades and new infrastructure along Shiloh Road will contribute to making this key commercial and residential corridor safer and more accessible, even as traffic volumes increase.

“Likewise, this funding will allow for much needed roadway improvements along Unionville Pike, which is a critical transportation connector between the Centre Region and the Bald Eagle Valley.

“I am thankful for our municipal partners and look forward to continuing to work with them to deliver funding for impactful projects like these.”

The grant was awarded through the Multimodal Transportation Fund, which provides grants to ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of the commonwealth.
