My Legislation to Protect Homeowners Passes
|
For millions of Pennsylvanians, their home is their most valuable financial asset. When a home-secured financial instrument fails, the impact is not only on the homeowner, but also the wider community.
This week, the House passed my bipartisan legislation to protect homeowners from predatory lending practices involving shared equity agreements. My colleagues and I will continue to advocate for transparency, consumer protection, and prohibitions against usury in any financial transaction involving Pennsylvanians’ homes.

Legislation to Increase Healthcare Access Advances
|
Three bills I have introduced or partnered on advanced out of committee this week and will be moving to the House Chamber for a vote.
These include HB 75 and HB 76, which will allow dual recognition for physician assistants, and HB 2550, which will create a tax credit program for small businesses that contribute to their employees’ health insurance premiums.

Bladder cancer is a surprisingly common form of cancer, which is why I attended the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network Annual Walk to End Bladder Cancer at North Park. We need to raise awareness of this deadly, but treatable disease and support funding for research.
|
It was an honor to participate in the Medical Humanities series at Reading Hospital to discuss the importance of physician advocacy. Thank you for the opportunity to discuss my story and how physicians must lead to improve the health of our patients and communities.
