Venkat secures $100,000 grant for North Boroughs Meals on Wheels

Will support kitchen remodel and equipment upgrades

PITTSBURGH, Aug. 27 – State Rep. Arvind Venkat, D-Allegheny, announced today that North Boroughs Meals on Wheels will be awarded a $100,000 grant to support its operations.

The grant will allow the organization to remodel its kitchen and purchase upgrades for equipment used in the Meals on Wheels program. Funded through a program at the Department of Community and Economic Development, this grant was secured through Venkat’s legislative backing.

“The work that North Boroughs Meals on Wheels does is vital to ensuring that members of our community who need access to nutritious food stay well-fed,” said Venkat. “I am proud to see this funding go to this crucial program that has been supporting communities along the Ohio River for over 30 years.”

In Venkat’s district, North Boroughs Meals on Wheels serves the communities Emsworth, Ben Avon, Ben Avon Heights, Kilbuck and Ohio Township. It also serves Glen Osborne, Sewickley, Glenfield, Bellevue, Avalon, Leetsdale, Edgeworth, Aleppo, Sewickley Heights and West View.
