Hello Neighbors, Community Members and Friends,
This week we heard Gov. Shapiro's budget address!
The Governor outlined many great initiatives that my colleagues and I on the House Appropriations Committee look forward to including and improving when it’s time to put forward our budget in the summer! We've been called upon to once again raise the minimum wage, something Pennsylvania has not done in more than 15 years. A $7.25 minimum wage may have been acceptable back then, but the economy has changed drastically, and this wage is simply unlivable. Our neighboring states have all raised their minimum wages in recent years, it's about time we join them.
Some other crucial objectives include $300 million for public transit, $50 million to child care centers, and more than $500 million to our schools. In the coming weeks, I'll be sharing updates from the various budget hearings we will host. It is our hope that we can meet and exceed the Governor's goals for a fair budget that brings power to the people of Pennsylvania.

On Monday, we all wore red for Heart Health Awareness Month! Later in the day I attended a press conference to celebrate and connect with our local Girl Scout Troops! We were addressed by student Girl Scout leaders, our Speaker of the House Joanna McClinton and Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania CEO Kim E. Fraites-Dow about the importance of being a strong community leader with girl power. All of the legislators who attended were sworn in as honorary Girl Scouts. My constituents from Upper Darby Troop 5130 represented as student Girl Scout leaders Chloe Thompson and Folasade Beckett were in attendance!

On Wednesday, we celebrated the retirement of the incredible Deb Brady before donning our Eagles Green to wish the Birds the best of luck in the Super Bowl this Sunday!
